For Department faculty, staff, students, and alumni,

You are warmly invited to join us as we mark an important milestone — the 60th Anniversary of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health, in the School of Population and Global Health (SPGH).

For six decades, the Department has brought together a diverse community of faculty, researchers, and students dedicated to advancing excellence in research and education.

This special occasion will feature an afternoon symposium, "The Department at 60: Insights from the past, Directions for the future," that will first highlight our history of innovation and impact, with Prof. Jim Hanley, Professor Emeritus (Biostatistics), ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, along with a panel of Departmental faculty.

Following this brief retrospective, we will be joined by Prof. Laura Rosella, Professor and Division Head of Epidemiology, University of Toronto, and Prof. Elizabeth Stuart, Professor and Chair of Biostatistics, Johns Hopkins University, who will share their perspectives on the future of our fields and how these may shape the evolution of public health, medicine, and health care. Dr. David Buckeridge, Professor and Canada Research Chair in Population Health Informatics, (SPGH, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ), will present his views and lead a panel discussion on how the department can continue to innovate and excel in training next generations of professionals in our fields. Finally, Prof. Robert Platt, Professor and Director of SPGH, will present and reflect on a vision for our Department’s future.

We will then conclude with a cocktail reception and the opportunity to socialize, reminisce, and celebrate the next chapter of the Department’s story.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you!
