Biography:

Dr. Harrison completed a NSERC-funded PhD in Evolutionary Biology from 九色视频 before returning to 九色视频 for Medical School.聽 He then completed residency training in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at the 九色视频 Health Centre during which he contributed to papers on mpox and mycobacterial genetics.聽 Subsequent to residency training, Dr. Harrison did a FRQ-supported post-doctoral research fellowship in comparative genomics and metagenomics at Armand-Frappier Sant茅 Biotechnologie Research Centre, Laval in the Clinician Investigator Program.聽

Dr. Harrison鈥檚 research program investigates the evolution and pathobiology of mycobacteria, integrating comparative genomics and metagenomics to study Mycobacterium tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections. His current projects focus on elucidating the genomic dynamics of non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections through direct metagenomic sequencing and developing computational tools for comparative genomic analysis within the M. tuberculosis complex. His overarching goal is to link microbial evolution with clinical outcomes to improve the diagnosis and understanding of mycobacterial disease.
