Howard Riggs was a dedicated, hard-working professor of math education. His work ethic was a product of his Prairie upbringing and his deep commitment to his students. He was hired by ��ɫ��Ƶ to teach social studies, but was pressed into service as a math educator in the Department of Elementary Education, one of the units that eventually morphed into DISE.

According to World University Rankings by Subject 2025, released on January 22 by Times Higher Education (THE), ��ɫ��Ƶ ranks among the top 90 in the world in all of the 11 subjects assessed, placing six subjects in the top 50. The University placed third in Canada in in Education Studies and six other domains. THE’s subject rankings evaluate 11 disciplines based on five performance indicators: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and Industry.

UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development in India (MGIEP) recently hosted Faculty of Education Dean, Vivek Venkatesh, and Professor Joseph Levitan, DISE, for a dialogue on community based participatory action research, and pluralism and polarization.
